Prototypes, Video Game Development, and Registration Now Open!
June 20, 2024We are delighted to announce that the final two talks have been confirmed for Festival Day!
Libby Miller is a technologist and maker, who enjoys making poor-quality robots and thinking about connection, embodiment, and meaning. She recently spent 14 years with BBC Research and Development. Libby will be talking about the value of prototypes that look shonky, physical and funny, even if the thing you will ultimately be creating is something finished, digital and deadly serious, and why poking holes in reality is essential for building better futures, especially now.
David Eastman has been a London-based professional software developer with Oracle Corp. and British Telecom, a consultant helping teams work in a more agile fashion, and a video game developer. David’s talk will explore how he got a team together to write Floor 13 Deep State during lockdown, a game based on a previous release from 30 years previously.
Registration open
Registration for Festival Day is now open! Please note that the venue has changed this year and the Birchcliffe Centre is only a short distance from the town centre. The venue is wheelchair accessible, however, the journey from town is up a very steep hill. There is no public parking available at the venue and those travelling by car should park in town. Anyone with accessibility concerns is advised to contact us.
A social event is planned for the Friday evening and this will be hosted at Nelsons Wine Bar in Hebden Bridge town centre. Further details will be provided in due course.
