We love steam locomotives and we think that 3D scanning and printing is extremely cool. So we were in awe when we discovered that Chris Thorpe had scanned an entire locomotive from the beautiful Ffestiniog railway no less, which he was then subsequently able to print out physical copies of at will and at a scale of his choice.

The story doesn't end there and Chris and his colleagues embarked on a mission to scan and model all manner of important artifacts or "greatest hits of the past", which they could then use technology from the future to bring them into the schools of today.
